Binary Head: 50 Best Firefox extensions for Powerful Browsing

  • jm · 2 months ago
Another one in this list would have been Red Panda's contextual browser (www.rdpnda.com). It displays news related to the current page you're browsing in a sidebar ...

You should only link to extensions that are on addons.mozilla.org to ensure people are getting safe extensions. Not only that, addons.mozilla.org will tell you if an extension will work with the current browser you're using, and I'm sure at least 90% of these don't work with the version I'm using. :)

You left out Foxit reader, which is far superior to Adobe Reader!
  • Ryan · 10 months ago
I would also recommend Webmail Notifier. You can add many webmail accounts like gmail, yahoo, MSN, etc. and it gives mail notifications in the corner.

While I would agree about Foxit Reader, it is not a Firefox Addon.

    I would add some:
    Download Statusbar
    Faviconize
    GMail Notifier
    StumbleUpon

The following are to make Firefox more sleek:
    Stylish
    Tiny Menu
    Stop or Reload Button

While a scant few of these items seem helpful, the majority appear to do simple or meaningless things that will just make Firefox take up more memory than it already does.

    FoxMarks!!!

MeasureIt is a great FF addon. It allows you to measure the width of any element on a page.

Probably only really useful for web developers.

    Hi,

Great list, but I would add these:
    Zotero, a web collection addon
    Lastpass, a password manager
    Session manager, to manage sessions
stop autoplay, stops videos and ads from playing automaticcally
    Firegestures, for mouse gestures
    Greasefire, for user scripts
    Quickproxy,
    remove it permanently
    Tiny menu

    other than that, good list

Very good information, but what is the tool to find the no follow links in Mozilla FireFox, Can anyone please tell me?
  • Binary Head · 7 months ago
Eric, there are many addons for that. You may use NoDoFollow firefox addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/...

FoxyProxy has no practical use IMHO, Torbutton is much better for that use. BTW I saw FoxyProxy but not Torbutton, Tor/torbutton (at least torbutton) should be added to your list, just my opinion

I don't think I've ever actually tried any of these.... although a lot of them seem to be fairly interesting. 50 is quite the list though... so I'm even sure where to start! Probably customizing Google in some way, as I seem to spend most of my time there!

Great list you've there. I would like to add Billeo to your list. It’s a free browser plug-in that manages passwords, saves receipts and auto fills forms. Very Handy!!
  • Mony · 3 months ago
Great list. I have used a very few out of it. I will try all in this list and review it if I find any useful.

I would also recommend WebRank Toolbar. A toolbar that will give you the rank(Google Pagerank, Alexa, Compete and Quantcast) of the website currently being viewed and pages indexed in various search engines(Google, Bing and Yahoo). It is a tool for SEO and website analysis too.
